Waarschijnlijk omdat in het liedje wordt gezongen \u2018Hang the dj. Hang the dj. Hang the dj.\u2019, omdat dj\u2019s altijd dezelfde kulmuziek draaien, die niets over je eigen leven vertelt (zo po\u00ebtisch weer en ook de essentie van kunst: het moet iets over je eigen leven vertellen). Blijkbaar vinden Nederlandse dj\u2019s het grappig of zo dat ze gehaat worden, dat ze dit nummer altijd draaien. Het is een leuk liedje, maar ik zet het nooit vrijwillig op.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"margin:1em 0;font-size:18px;line-height:1.5em;font-family:Arial,-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#000000;font-size:16px;line-height:2\">Om de populariteit van The Smiths te begrijpen, moet je Engeland begrijpen. Een gitaarbandje dat zich niet schaamde dat de leden van de working class waren. Ze waren duidelijk anti-Thatcher. En toen was de band na vijf jaar uit elkaar (1987) en waren ze allemaal nog maar 23 jaar\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"margin:1em 0;font-size:18px;line-height:1.5em;font-family:Arial,-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#000000;font-size:16px;line-height:2\">In de jaren \u201890 brachten The Smiths de ene \u2018verzamelaar\u2019 na de ander uit, met b-tracks en demo\u2019s en andere dingen om de kassa weer te doen rinkelen. De drummer en de bassist wilden daar ook het geld van zien, maar Morrissey weigerde.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"margin:1em 0;font-size:18px;line-height:1.5em;font-family:Arial,-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#000000;font-size:16px;line-height:2\">Dat werd een rechtszaak die de bassist en de drummer wonnen. Ze kregen een paar miljoen en Morrissey heeft het ze nooit vergeven. Want in zijn hoofd was hij met Jonhnny Marr het genie van de band en mochten de anderen blij zijn dat ze mee mochten doen. Het is een toneelstukje dat je opvoert tussen journalist en de artiest. Hij heeft daarom besloten om gewoon met hem te kletsen en schreef zijn observaties er daarna over op. Zoals dat Morrissey soms op e-bay zoekt naar zijn eigen handtekeningen die worden verkocht en ziet dat ze allemaal nep zijn.
